1.1 million girls banes from secondary school

AT Kabul: OCHA in its Weekly Digest for 20-26 january 2023 said that Education is a fundamental right and ransformative experience which benefits all of the society.

Yet, in Afghanistan today, some 1.1 million girls have been banned from attending secondary school and over 100,000 from university.

On Education day, we stand in solidarity with the future generation of Afghan girls and women who both deserve and are entitled to a much brighter future.

Humanitarian actors are delivering vital winter support to vulnerable Afghan families incl blankets, heating, shelter repair & cash for rent. So far, 565,700 people-some 59% of those targeted – have been reached. But much more is needed amid one of the coldest spells in years.
