ISLAMABAD, October 26, 2025 — At least five Pakistani soldiers and twenty-five militants were killed in heavy fighting over the weekend, Pakistan’s military said on Sunday.
The clashes took place when security forces confronted two large groups of militants in North Waziristan and Kurram districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, near the Afghanistan border, on Friday and Saturday.
According to the military’s statement, troops engaged the militants in intense gun battles after detecting infiltration attempts along the frontier. Fifteen militants, including four suicide bombers, were killed in North Waziristan, while ten others died in Kurram.
Five Pakistani soldiers were also killed in the operations. Security forces recovered a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the dead militants. The army said such operations would continue to eliminate terrorist networks and secure the country’s border regions.
