AT-KABUL: Some 8,000 Afghan refugees have been arrested in Khaybar-Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan since the beginning of the current year, media have reported.
Security officials of Peshawar confessed that 8,000 Afghan refugees have been arrested by police in different areas of Khaybar Pakhtunkhwa, 1TV Channel reports.
Peshawar police have claimed the refugees were involved in different crimes such as target killings, robberies and car stealing.
Police have also destroyed 10 Afghan refugee houses in Jamroad area of Khayber Pakhtunkhwa.
Although the harassment of Afghan refugees was a common issue in Pakistan, but it increased after Torkahm clashes between Afghan forces and Pakistan Paramilitary.
After the Torkham clashes between Afghan and Pakistani forces, tensions increased between Kabul and Islamabad, which negatively impacted over mutual political and economicrelations.
According to reports, currently, over one million Afghan refugees live in Pakistan.
