KABUL: Mullah Ahmad, the Taliban’s intelligence chief for the southern Helmand province was killed in an Afghan air force strike along with his two fighters, authorities said.

The military in Helmand said the Taliban commander was mastermind of major attacks in the province. Mullah Ahmad was killed along with two fighters on Wednesday in Nawzad district in Helmand.

The chief and the fighters were killed when their vehicle targeted by an AAF strike. 

Army officials said Mullah Ahmad’s killing will weaken Taliban’s movements in Helmand. 

According to the officials, since February, at least 19 Taliban fighters have been killed in Helmand province by the Afghan security forces.
