KABUL — Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai announced today that his son, Mirwais, has successfully completed his school education, joining a group of young Afghans in celebrating their graduation. Karzai expressed his pride and extended best wishes for the continued success of all graduates.
He also shared that his daughter, Malalai, has finished her primary education and is determined to pursue higher studies. Karzai emphasized the importance of Afghan children, especially girls, completing their education within Afghanistan, stating that he hopes Malalai and all Afghan girls will finish high school domestically and achieve their aspirations through higher education at Afghan universities.
Karzai has long been an advocate for education in Afghanistan. He has consistently urged Afghan parents to send their daughters to school and has called on the ruling authorities to allow girls to attend schools and universities. He has also expressed deep regret over the ban on girls’ education in medical institutes, emphasizing the necessity of education for both boys and girls for Afghanistan’s development.
In his recent message, Karzai expressed gratitude to the board and teachers of the Afghan-Turk High School for their dedication and support. This reaffirmation of his commitment to domestic education comes amid ongoing challenges to educational access in Afghanistan.
