AT Kabul: Afghanistan and Russia are poised to deepen diplomatic and economic ties following a high-level meeting in Kabul between Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi and Russian Ambassador Dmitry Zhirnov.
The two officials met on Sunday to discuss a new phase of cooperation between the two countries, with a focus on implementing agreements made during the recent Kazan conference and enhancing the role of bilateral committees.
According to the Afghan Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Zhirnov formally delivered an official note confirming Russia’s acceptance of Afghanistan’s nominated ambassador to Moscow. The move marks a significant step toward bolstering diplomatic engagement between the two nations.

Foreign Minister Muttaqi hailed the development as the beginning of a “new chapter” in Afghanistan-Russia relations. He voiced optimism that both countries would work closely to expand collaboration across multiple sectors.
