KABUL – At least four students were injured when a bomb exploded inside a private school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, northwestern Pakistan, on Saturday. The incident took place in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber district, near the Afghan border.
Authorities said a fourth-grade student had brought a “toy bomb” — an abandoned mortar shell — into the classroom, where it detonated, injuring the child and three classmates. The injured students were immediately rushed to a hospital in Peshawar for treatment.
Local officials have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to determine how the device entered the school and to identify those responsible. The incident raises renewed concerns over the safety of educational institutions in conflict-prone regions of Pakistan.
