Afghanistan Denies Pakistan’s Claim of Indian Missile Strike on Its Soil

KABUL – Afghanistan has categorically denied Pakistan’s claim that Indian missiles struck Afghan territory during recent cross-border hostilities.

“There is no truth to such claims,” said Inayatullah Khawarizmi, spokesperson for the Afghan Ministry of Defense, in an interview with Hurriyat Radio on Saturday. The statement comes in response to comments by Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, who alleged that Indian strikes had extended into Afghan territory amid rising regional tensions.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs also rejected the claim in a morning briefing, calling it a “totally frivolous allegation.”

“This is yet another ludicrous claim,” said Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri at a joint press conference with Indian Army and Air Force officials. “Afghan people don’t need reminders about which country has repeatedly targeted civilian populations and infrastructure on their soil over the past year and a half.”

Misri accused Islamabad of “peddling disinformation” in an effort to deflect from its own actions and provoke regional instability. “Pakistan is engaged in a cynical attempt to distort global perception and malign India,” he added.

The developments follow three nights of drone intrusions from Pakistan into Indian territory — including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan — reportedly involving Turkish-origin drones. In retaliation, India launched a series of targeted strikes on Pakistani air bases and military facilities.

Misri also dismissed Pakistani claims that Indian missiles struck a religious site as “completely fabricated.” He rebuffed assertions that India’s critical infrastructure had been severely damaged, urging the public “not to fall for the tissue of lies being spread.”

In a pointed remark, Misri addressed recent Pakistani commentary on internal Indian dissent: “It may surprise Pakistan to see citizens criticising their own government. That is the hallmark of any open and functioning democracy.”

Afghanistan’s denial adds another layer to a rapidly escalating conflict narrative between nuclear-armed neighbors India and Pakistan. Despite not recognizing the Taliban-led Afghan government formally, India has maintained a limited diplomatic presence in Kabul and continues humanitarian aid — suggesting a pragmatic engagement amid rising tensions in South Asia.
