KABUL – In a new diplomatic engagement, Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the 51st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul. The meeting centered on deepening bilateral relations and addressing pressing regional challenges.
Muttaqi highlighted the enduring historical and cultural bonds between Afghanistan and Turkey, describing Ankara as a strategic partner in the Islamic Emirate’s foreign policy. He emphasized the need to expand cooperation across various sectors, including economic development, regional transit, and political engagement.
In response, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reaffirmed Afghanistan’s significance for Turkey and expressed Ankara’s readiness to strengthen cooperation. He stressed the importance of sustained dialogue and mutual understanding in addressing shared regional concerns.
