AT-KABUL: At least five militants, loyal to the Islamic State, known as Daesh, were killed in an airstrike in Nangarhar province, the security official said on Tuesday.
In a press statement, the Ministry of Defense, said that the strike was carried out by the Afghan Air Force in the Kot district.
Kot is considered to be the stronghold of the Daesh group since its emergence in Afghanistan some two years ago. Two Pakistani women, loyal to the Islamic State, were earlier arrested in the district, while transferring classified documents to the group.
The National Security and Defense Forces arrested the suspected women in Kot district, the provincial government’s media office said on that time. The seized documents continued information how to make explosive devices and other weapons.
However, there is no immediate comment posed by the group into the matter.
It is worth mentioning that Afghan Air Forces recently intensified its operations against insurgents across the country, in which scores of militants were killed and wounded.
On Monday, eleven Daesh militants were killed and 14 others revived injures in kot district when the Afghan Air Forces targeted them in their hideout.
Moreover, the Ministry of Defense, said that an operation of the 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan National Army condemned Shaheen-13, is currently underway to suppress Daesh militants activities in Nangarhar province.
