AT-KABUL: Twenty-three fighters for the Daesh terrorist group were killed in a series of airstrikes carried out in the eastern Nangarhar province, an official said Sunday.
Attaullah Khogyanai, provincial spokesman, said that the strikes were carried out in the Achin district, but did not elaborate whether the attacks were carried out by Afghan air force or the international warplanes.
“The airstrike targeted Daesh hideouts in Momando, Mozdaki and Abdulkhil areas resulting the death of 23 Daesh including foreigner fighters were killed in the operation,” Khogyani said.
Weapons of Daesh fighters were destroyed in the area as well, according to Khogyani.
No civilian casualties reported in the operation.
Nangarhar is the first province, which Daesh entered into face to face fight with Afghan forces. Majority of Daesh fighters’ hideouts are in Nangarhar, particularly in Achin district.
Enough drone strike and ground operations have been conducted against Daesh fighters in Nangarhar, which caused at killing and wounded of hundreds of Daesh in the past one year.
