KABUL – China hosted a high-level trilateral meeting today involving Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. The talks aimed to strengthen regional cooperation, enhance economic connectivity, and address security concerns in South Asia.

The meeting underscored the commitment of the three nations to promote peace and stability in the region. China and Pakistan expressed their support for Afghanistan’s integration into regional economic frameworks, particularly through the extension of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) into Afghanistan. This initiative is expected to bolster Afghanistan’s role as a hub for regional connectivity and economic development.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized China’s readiness to work with both Pakistan and Afghanistan to implement the Global Development Initiative and enhance cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
