AT Kabul: Turkish President Receb Tayyip Erdoğan has declared that Iran has a “legitimate and legal right” to defend itself against what he described as “piracy and state terrorism” by Israel.
Speaking at a parliamentary group meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) on Wednesday, Erdoğan said Turkey is currently going through a critical period and must focus all its efforts on issues vital to its national survival.
Commenting on escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, Erdoğan accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of surpassing Adolf Hitler in committing acts of genocide. “Netanyahu has far exceeded the tyrant Hitler in his genocidal crimes. We hope they won’t meet the same fate,” he stated.
He emphasized Turkey’s commitment to ending what he called “inhumane aggression” not only in Gaza but also in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and Iran. “Turkey will do everything in its power to halt these atrocities,” Erdoğan affirmed.
The Turkish president also criticized the United Nations for its inaction regarding Israeli attacks on Iran and said that Ankara is closely monitoring the situation. “We are following Israel’s terrorist attacks on Iran very closely. All our institutions are on high alert to respond to any potential repercussions on Turkey,” he said.
Previously, Erdoğan had told Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian that Ankara is ready to play a facilitating role to help end the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.
