AT Kabul: Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh has issued a stern warning that if indirect nuclear negotiations with the United States collapse and a military confrontation is imposed, the U.S. would suffer heavy losses and be forced to withdraw from the region.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Wednesday’s cabinet meeting, Nasirzadeh responded to recent threats reportedly made by American officials during ongoing indirect talks over Iran’s nuclear program.
“Some officials on the other side have raised the possibility of confrontation if no agreement is reached,” Nasirzadeh said. “In the event of any potential aggression, the enemy will face greater losses, and the U.S. will inevitably have to leave the region.”
The comments come amid heightened tensions and a deadlock in diplomatic efforts to revive a nuclear deal. Iranian officials have repeatedly emphasized their preparedness to defend national sovereignty and warned against what they describe as provocative rhetoric from Western powers.
There has been no immediate response from U.S. officials regarding Nasirzadeh’s remarks.
