KABUL – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has emphasized that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is crucial to Pakistan’s national interest, urging the Taliban-led interim government to ensure Afghan territory is not used against other states — especially Pakistan.
Speaking at the 52nd anniversary of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, Dar said, “We believe that a peaceful, stable, united and prosperous Afghanistan is in Pakistan’s vital interest,” calling on Kabul to take decisive action against terror threats. He stressed that preventing the use of Afghan soil for terrorism would not only benefit regional security but also enhance Afghanistan’s own internal stability and ties with neighbors.
His remarks come amid growing concerns in Islamabad over cross-border attacks allegedly originating from Afghanistan. Political experts echoed the need for regional unity, urging collaborative efforts to identify and eliminate terror networks.
While the Taliban government continues to insist it will not allow Afghan territory to be used against other countries, analysts say practical cooperation among regional players, including Pakistan, is essential for long-term peace.
