Tensions Between Pakistan and India; Pakistan Calls Modi’s Remarks Provocative and Inflammatory Assertions

The recent statements by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have sparked reactions from Pakistan, with the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs issuing a statement condemning Modi’s remarks as provocative and incendiary.

Narendra Modi recently stated that Pakistan would be punished in the event of any new attacks. He added: “From now on, terrorists and the Pakistani government will be treated as one and the same.”

Responding to Modi’s comments, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement saying:
“At a time when international efforts are underway to promote peace and regional stability, such remarks represent a dangerous escalation based on misinformation, political opportunism, and a blatant disregard for international law. These statements also reflect a desire to construct misleading narratives in order to justify aggression.”

The ministry added that Pakistan remains committed to the ceasefire and is taking necessary steps to reduce tensions and promote stability in the region.

“The Pahalgam attack, without any credible evidence, has been used to defame Pakistan, justify military adventurism, create a pretext for war, achieve domestic political goals, distract public attention from growing sectarian tensions, human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and reinforce a fabricated narrative of an ever-present external threat,” the ministry stated.

Regarding the Indus Waters, the ministry said: “India’s illegal and unilateral actions are also evident in its blatant disregard for binding agreements such as the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), which has regulated shared water resources for decades. Pakistan will take all necessary measures to safeguard its rights under this treaty.”

The ministry emphasized that in today’s world, peace is true strength, but any aggression against Pakistan will be met with a resolute response. Although a ceasefire has been agreed upon between the two countries, Narendra Modi has declared that Indian military strikes against Pakistan have only been temporarily halted and that New Delhi is closely monitoring any movements from Islamabad.
