KABUL – The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has released a 35-minute video detailing its March 2025 hijacking of Pakistan’s Jaffar Express train. This footage, titled “Operation Darr-e-Bolan,” showcases the planning, training, and execution phases of the attack, aiming to counter the Pakistani military’s narrative that the BLA indiscriminately targeted civilians.
In the video, BLA fighters assert that their operation adhered to “international warfare standards,” claiming they targeted only military personnel and released civilians, including women and children. The footage includes scenes of fighters receiving “fidayeen training,” final combat briefings, and the execution of the attack.
A significant aspect of the video is the alleged use of U.S.-made weapons by BLA militants during the attack. Reports suggest that these weapons were left behind in Afghanistan and subsequently utilized in the Jaffar Express operation.
The Jaffar Express hijacking resulted in the deaths of at least 64 individuals, including 31 soldiers and civilians, and all 33 BLA attackers. The BLA had demanded the release of its jailed members in exchange for the hostages.
This incident underscores the escalating insurgency in Balochistan, with the BLA intensifying its campaign for independence from Pakistan. The group’s recent operations have drawn international attention, highlighting the complex geopolitical dynamics in the region .
