KABUL — Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai met with Anand Prakash, Joint Secretary for Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran at India’s Ministry of External Affairs, to discuss regional developments and bilateral cooperation. The meeting comes as India intensifies its diplomatic outreach in the region following the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which has strained relations with Pakistan.
During the meeting, Karzai expressed gratitude for India’s longstanding support, particularly in education, and urged for the continuation of scholarships for Afghan students. He also emphasized the need to resolve challenges faced by Afghan students in India and called for enhanced economic cooperation, including facilitating trade between the two nations.
The meeting underscores India’s efforts to reinforce its partnerships in the region amid its escalating tensions elsewhere.
